Normalizing temperature of ASTM A573 Grade 70 steel

ASTM A573 Grade 70 steel is a kind of Carbon-Manganese-Silicon Steel in ASTM standard. A573 Grade 70 steel is widely used in petroleum and petrochemical fields because of its low production cost and simple production process. It still has good strength-toughness matching and welding performance. A573 Grade 70 steel is often used in the manufacture of low-end pressure vessels. In recent years, driven by the policy of the Chinese region, A573 Grade 70 steel has been widely exported to the Middle East for large-scale projects.

The optimum heat treatment process for ASTM A573 Grade 70 steel is 940 DEC normalizing heat treatment with a holding time of 1 min/mm. With the increase of normalizing temperature, the mechanical properties of ASTM A573 Grade 70 steel sheet are continuously improved. As normalizing temperature varies from 880 DEC to 940 DEC., the tensile strength and impact toughness of ASTM A573 Grade 70 steel are increased by 40 MPa and 20J separately.
