SS400 steel plate is one of the most commonly used hot rolled general structural steel under JIS G3101 standard. It is most used by tank manufacturers all over the world. The SS400 steel plate thickness varies from 2mm to 650mm, width 1200-4000mm and length 3000mm-18000mm. For the thick SS400 steel plate, BBN steel suggests customers to do normalizing heat treatment to improve mechanical properties of SS400 steel plate.

There are several other steel materials whose mechanical properties are close to mechanical properties of SS400 steel plate, such as ASTM A36 mild steel plate, DIN ST37-2 structural steel plate, GB Q235B carbon steel plate, etc. They are SS400 equivalent grade.
