Whether GB/T 700 Q235A low carbon steel can be quenched to obtain martensite

GB/T 700 Q235A low carbon steel has good ductility and plasticity, with certain elongation, good welding performance and thermal processing performance.
Q235A low carbon steel materials are usually transported under hot rolling conditions and are suitable for general structural parts such as light industry, machinery, transportation vehicles and buildings.

The carbon content of GB/T 700 Q235A low carbon steel is 0.14 ~ 0.22%.
The solid solubility of carbon in AlFa iron at room temperature is only 0.0008%.
Therefore, in theory, Q235A low carbon steel can be quenched to obtain martensite.
However, martensite carbon is very low, even hardened, at only about 170HbS.
Q235A low carbon steel itself is about 144HBS hard.

Besides, after quenching, the strength and hardness of GB/T 700 Q235A low carbon steel have not been significantly improved, and Q235A low carbon steel is also faced with heat treatment defects such as deformation, cracking, oxidation and decarbonization, etc. Q235A low carbon steel has poor heat treatment effect.
