China's crude steel production in May was 92.27 million tons, up 4.2% year-on-year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday. From January to May, the crude steel output was 417.5 million tons, up 1.9% year on year.

China's pig iron production in May was 77.32 million tons, an increase of 2.4% over the same period of last year; pig iron production in January - May was 355.99 million tons, an increase of 1.5% over the same period of last year.

According to the data, China's steel output in May was 145.3 million tons, an increase of 6.2% year on year; from January to May, the steel output was 488.19 million tons, an increase of 1.2%.
